Situated on the outskirts of Bradley near Skipton, the garden at 1 Lane Top is set in glorious countryside. There are wonderful views from parts of the garden, but also secluded areas with structure from hedging and trees, creating shelter and a microclimate. 1 Lane Top is a country garden with cottage style planting, box topiary gardens and wilder areas to provide valuable wildlife habitats.
I believe gardens are always evolving and are a ‘work in progress’. Over recent years we have created a cutting garden, which has developed into a French style potager garden, where edibles and flowers are grown. We are currently building a Victorian style greenhouse in the potager garden and in another part of the garden, a ‘sitooterie’, positioned to take in the lovely views. With wildlife in mind, we are also adding water features in the garden.
We welcome visitors to the garden. Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for charity from opening the garden in July. The garden is open by arrangement to groups too – please get in touch if you are interested in booking a visit.
The garden is a rich source of plant material for our floristry workshops. From winter foliage for wreath workshops, to spring and summer flowers, from tulips, daffodils and blossom to sweet peas, herbaceous perennials, annuals and dahlias. The Workshops page lists available classes.
